Originally founded in 1987, SEACAMP San Diego’s mission is to provide exciting, innovative, hands-on, and interactive marine education opportunities, to students across the country and around the world. We at SEACAMP San Diego believe that most students learn best through experience, which is why we incorporate in-depth and hands-on laboratories with a wide variety of field activities. Our goal is to engage students with the enormous scope of marine life while encouraging participation, individual exploration, and challenge.
Program Offerings SEACAMP San Diego offers year round programs to groups and individuals from around the world. Our Summer Programs include three unique camp opportunities: SEACAMP I, SEACAMP II, and SEACAMP III. Each session immerses students in the fascinating world of marine biology through interactive marine science classes and field experiences.
Staff SEACAMP San Diego stands apart from other summer camps thanks to the high caliber of its staff. All instructors possess at least a 4-year degree in the Sciences, a passion for the ocean and a love of teaching. Our Marine Science Instructors also act as our counselors and assure 24-hour student supervision both in the field and the dorm facilities. All SEACAMP San Diego staff possess certifications in American Red Cross Lifeguarding, First Aid, Oxygen Administration, and CPR for the Professional Rescuer. Our staff understand the complexities of functioning in a supervisory role, maintaining discipline and still allowing for fun and personal growth.
Medical Care All SEACAMP San Diego’s programs are centrally located in the community in easy reach of full medical facilities, including emergency care. All facilities are easily accessible by car and ambulance in case of emergency and professional medical care is on call 24 hours a day.
Enrollment School Year Groups as well as SEACAMP I sessions are limited to 56 students. SEACAMP II and SEACAMP III sessions are limited to 28 students. Students fly and drive in from all over the U.S. as well as other countries. Small group sizes allow students to form long-lasting friendships, many returning year after year. Applications are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis and a partially refundable deposit is required to hold a student’s place.
Facilities SEACAMP I and SEACAMP II have a base of operations at the San Diego Youth Aquatic Center, located right on the water in Mission Bay, San Diego, CA. |
